JOB SUMMARY:

The Warehouse Associate is responsible for operating high reach, forklift, pallet jack, and/or other material handling equipment as part of the distribution process within a fast paced warehouse setting. The Warehouse Operator will utilize equipment while performing tasks to include shipping, receiving, loading, unloading, scanning, moving, staging, locating, relocating, and stacking product.

PRIMARY DUTIES:

  • Safely loads and securely stows freight into line haul (highway) trailers, city pick-up and delivery trucks, trailers or other vehicles; loading and stowing freight is performed in a safe and effective manner to prevent equipment damage and cargo damage in-transit and/or during unloading, and to fully utilize the maximum cargo carrying capacity of the vehicle (i.e. maximizes load factor)
  • Safely unloads freight from line haul trailers, city pick-up and delivery trucks, trailers or other vehicles
  • Performs warehouse keeping and housekeeping duties within warehouse and terminal property
  • Conducts formal equipment inspections prior to use, aids in facility inspections
  • Reports to and works under the supervision of the Warehouse Manager
  • Loads, unloads, moves, stacks and stages products and materials using a fork lift, reach truck or other power equipment.
  • Assists in maintaining the security of the warehouse by conducting operations in a manner which promotes safety
  • Performs picking duties in an efficient manner that meets both company and customer standards
  • Checks and verifies accuracy of orders picked by other associates
  • Completes paperwork for outgoing shipments and proper waybills for outside carriers
  • Other duties as required and assigned by supervisor

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be over age 18
  • Must be physically suited for the nature of the work which includes sustaining repetitive motion and manual labor with periods of peak physical exertion, bending, lifting and carrying weights up to 70 pounds. Twisting, turning and reaching overhead.
  • Must pass a company paid criminal record check and substance abuse screening prior to employment
  • Must pass police background criminal record check
  • Must possess and wear at all times approved steel toe boots/footwear
  • Must wear company provided gloves, safety glasses and other personal protective equipment as required when performing certain duties in the warehouse where this would be required
  • English language fluency and literacy skills: reading, writing and comprehension of written and verbal instructions; effective written and verbal communications to co-workers and supervisors
  • Basic arithmetic comprehension including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or GED (General Education Diploma) equivalency
  • Minimum 1 year experience and/or training in trucking and warehouse environment
  • Previous experience operating warehouse equipment such as a forklift and reach trucks
